A significant shift in geopolitical headlines and central bank pricing has triggered notable movements across global macro assets today. The abrupt cancellation of fresh peace talks between the United States and Iran has renewed the "fear trade," immediately reversing last week's brief relief rally.

Foreign Exchange (FX)

The US Dollar Index ($DXY$) holds strong near its yearly highs, hovering around 100.84. The greenback is drawing heavy support from safe-haven inflows following the breakdown of U.S.-Iran diplomatic progress, alongside a hawkish undercurrent from the Federal Reserve.

Precious Metals (Gold)

Spot Gold ($XAU/USD$) settled near $4,190.70 per ounce, recovering about 0.94% on the session after an initial dip.

The Macro Driver: Gold remains a highly volatile binary play right now. While a hawkish Fed and elevated bond yields (with the US 10-year holding at 4.50%) are actively dampening ETF demand, the collapse of the Middle East peace talks has injected a fresh "war inflation" premium.

Traders are defending the core structure below $4,200, but intermediate upside momentum remains capped by a strong dollar. Meanwhile, central banks—notably the National Bank of Poland—continue to report steady physical accumulation on major price corrections.

Energies (Crude Oil)

Energy markets are highly sensitive to the sudden diplomatic breakdown, driving massive headline-driven volatility.

Oil prices are striving to mount a recovery after last week's massive 15% liquidation, which occurred when a tentative 60-day memorandum of agreement briefly halted hostilities. With the unexpected cancellation of the follow-up peace summit and lingering threats regarding shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, the market is quickly pricing supply risk back into the equation. The immediate focus remains on whether WTI can structurally reclaim and hold the critical psychological $80 barrier.
